document – user is not allowed to enter data at disaggregated level in case
data at aggregated level exist, and vice versa.
7)
Uncertainty analysis is still in a progress of
development due to major impact to database structure changes and thus
functionality involved.
Version released on 17th of August 2008
1) Grid cell formatting – cells in reporting
tables resize automatically to fit contents to avoid truncating big numbers.
2) Worksheet – current record remark
window has been removed. Remarks for each worksheet record can be managed using
the last column of the worksheet labeled “Remark”. Tooltips containing the
remark text are displayed when mouse pointer is over the remark grid cell.
Clicking the remark button opens the special dialog where remark text can be
edited.
3) Inventory Year – increased the start
year to begin from year 0 and the end year to the maximum of 9999. It is also
possible to set the base year. Options are available via Application -> Prefrences -> Inventory Year tab. Selected base year is also indicated
in time series charts.
4) GWPs – renamed SAR, TAR, 4AR to: SAR
GWPs (100 year horizon), TAR GWPs (100 year horizon), 4AR GWPs (100 year
horizon). It is possible to add additional gases to the selected GWP type. User
can define/delete additional custom GWP types. Standard SAR, TAR, 4AR are
static and cannot be deleted, however GWP values can be modified for each
defined gas.
5) Fuel Combustion Activities –
Conversion Factor Units – when selecting unit other than Gg and TJ, user is
prompted to enter custom conversion factor.
6) Fuel Combustion Activities – NCV or
GCV – it is possible to indicate if NCV or GCV conversion factors are being
used. If set to NCV, conversion factor is automatically prefilled according to
selected fuel. If set to GCV, user is prompted to enter custom conversion
factor.
Version released on 12th of August 2008
1) Time
Series at aggregated IPCC levels in the Worksheets window – clicking the
particular aggregated IPCC category will display the time series chart
containing emissions expressed as Gg CO2 Equivalents.
2) Time
Series at disaggregated levels in the Worksheets window – time series
window is always displayed within the particular worksheet and automatically
recalculates after making any modifications to data in the worksheet.
3) Worksheet
for 1.B.1.c - worksheet for entering CO2, CH4 and N2O emissions is now available.
4) Database
backup – database backup properties can be set using Application ->
Preferences dialog box (Database tab). It is possible to set to prompt the
user to backup database if the last backup is older than X days. (X can be
defined, defaults to 7 days). It is also possible to always prompt the user to
backup the database after opening the database, using the "Always
prompt for backup after opening database" checkbox.
5) Delete
selected rows button – selected rows in the worksheets can be
deleted using this button where applicable (the same as pressing the DEL key).
Version released on 15th of July 2008
1)
Inventory
start year and final year - it is possible to define minimum and
maximum inventory year using Application -> Preferences dialog -> Inventory
Year tab. Selected minimum year is then treated as a base year
2)
“Documentation”
in worksheets and “documentation box” in reports are suitable for our needs -
‘Documentation’ for each record in the worksheets should be renamed to
‘Remarks’ - Done.
Additionally, "Worksheet remarks" window is available within
each worksheet to write any remarks regarding the whole worksheet, not just the
particular row of the worksheet. It will be then possible e.g. to combine
worksheet remarks and automatically include them into documentation box in
reporting tables. User will still have possibility to modify the documentation
in reporting tables.
3)
GWPs
not yet implemented in Energy sector (they are needed for KCA and Uncertainty
analysis). They will be user-defined. Do not use term “GWP” use “CO2 equivalent
factors”. Factors will be enterable by the “super-user”, IPCC factors from SAR,
TAR and AR4 will be available for selection or new factors can be entered - Done – CO2 equivalents can be managed using dialog
accessible via Administrate -> CO2 Equivalents menu. Except for SAR,
TAR and 4AR, additional "Custom" type is available where
administrator can define custom values for each gas. The list of gases for
which equivalents can be defined is limited to CO2, CH4, N2O, SF6 for now.
Default type of CO2 Equivalents currently selected is displayed in the status
bar and also in Database Properties dialog.
4)
Number
of significant digits. Numbers are not rounded in display or reports. No
rounding should be performed during the calculations. For presentation of the
reports, users should be able to specify the number of digits to be displayed -
Done, it is possible to define default number of
decimal places via Application -> Preferences dialog. Besides this,
each report has functionality to adjust number of decimal places right within
the report window if other value as default is desired. It is also possible to
set if decimal places should be displayed also for numbers that have less or no decimal places (integers) using appropriate
checkbox.
5)
Fuel
types and fuels - Currently different fuel types (SOLID, LIQUID etc.) are
displayed separately and selected from a drop down menu - Add “All Fuels” to
drop down menu which will then display all fuels for an aid to inventory
compilers – Done.
6)
Addition
of new units for fuel consumption - Currently only TJ and Gg are allowed - It
should be possible to add new units of fuel consumption (such as m3 as in the
guidelines) but USERS will have to input a conversion factors (TJ/unit) for
these new units, the system should also understand Mg, Tg, MJ, PJ etc. If m3
selected then warning to users that they need to enter their own factor - Cubic meter has been added to
the list of available units in Fuel Combustion Activities worksheets. Still to
be considered what other units to include in the list or the free editable new
units/conversions should be available?
7)
Notation
Keys: current functionality description follows.
Still to discuss if such Notation Key functionality is correct and desired?
-
Fuel Combustion Activities:
each IPCC category is treated as one particular activity consisting of
more records for different fuels. However, e.g. Energy background reporting
table deals only with fuel types, not the particular fuel. Therefore it is not
feasible to apply notation keys to the particular fuels but for the whole IPCC
category (activity) itself. It can be done so using the selection list located
at the bottom of the Fuel Combustion Activities worksheet. Choosing either NO,
NE, IE – worksheet cannot contain any data. When using C, worksheet can contain
data but energy consumption activity data in reporting tables will contain
"C" instead of value (activity values will not be exposed, just
emissions)
-
CH4 and CO2 emissions from underground and surface
coal mining and handling:
When editing column "Amount of coal produced" button
"NK" is available which can be used to choose either IE, NO or C
notation keys. When IE or NO is selected, it is not possible to enter values.
If C is specified, values can be provided but the activity data "Amount of
coal produced" will not be exposed in reporting tables. Column
"Methane Emissions" contains "NK" button where NE notation
key can be selected so user can provide activity data but indicate that the
emissions for these activity data have not been estimated, this will be also
indicated in reporting tables.
-
CO2 emissions from CH4 flaring:
Column "Volume of methane combusted" contains NK button which
can be used to select IE, C, NE, NO notation keys. In case of selecting IE, NE,
NO it is not possible to enter values. In case of choosing C notation key, user
can input values but activity data "Volume of methane combusted" will
not be exposed in reporting tables, just emissions.
-
CH4 Emissions from Abandoned Coal Mines
the same approach as for Fuel Combustion Activities
-
Oil and Natural Gas
-
the same approach as for Fuel Combustion
Activities
8)
Color
scheme of the interface - The color scheme is fixed and not liked by all.
Calculated values are colored differently – this is good - If it is feasible, there should be an
option to choose other colors or TSU and
SPIRIT to find a better color
scheme - Done – it is possible to choose from
the list of predefined grid layouts and additionally adjust header color, font,
selected row appearance, and calculated cells appearance using Application
-> Preferences dialog -> Grid colors tab.
9)
QA/QC
- Name in software - Rename to “Quality Control” – Done
10)
Uncertainty - Not yet implemented - To be
implemented. - In progress - still some details unknown - ? Reporting table 3.2 is implemented Select Base Year and
Select Current Year will be available Sorting by category as well as by emission
value should be implemented Columns C, D are filled with emissions data from
Worksheet Columns E, F are editable Uncertainty data of AR and EF - Question is
how to fill this data- Should be edited
in Table 3.2??? or- Worksheets should be
extended to these new values??? (how)· Do
we need uncertainty for every activity (Fuel consumption?) or for every IPCC
Category only?· In which range
are uncertainty values - from -100 to + 100%???· Should there exist some
default uncertainty value propound (e.g. 95%) ???
11)
Key
Category Analysis (KCA) Not yet
Implemented. To be implemented following the Guidelines. User will have the
option to modify the categories/gas combinations for the KCA.SPIRIT will check
whether this flexibility is feasible within the present state of development of
the software. This could be in next phase(s) – In
progress, will be implemented.
12)
Time
Series Display - Not yet Implemented (display of Emission x Year, tables and
graphs) - In progress - to be implemented.
13)
1.B.1.b - No
worksheet in guidelines. Use worksheet for stationary combustion. Emission
factors only for coal for CO2, (Anthracite; Coking Coal; Other Bituminous Coal;
Sub-Bituminous Coal; Lignite; Oil Shale and Tar Sands) - Done – worksheet for entering data for 1.B.1.b + reporting
14)
1.B.1.c - No
worksheet in guidelines. There is no 1.B.1.c category in volume 2 this is a
fugitive emission from solid fuel conversion. (see 1.A.1.c for combustion
emissions for this category.) A worksheet with simply 3 cells to enter
emissions of CO2, CH4 and N2O calculated elsewhere or measured is needed - In progress, to be implemented.
15)
CCS
- No worksheet in guidelines. Use the 2 reporting tables as data entry table.
Should be accessible for worksheet menu and under reporting menu table is
displayed as at present - In progress. More
information required on relation between two tables.
16)
Grand
totals of activity data should be displayed in each worksheet. It will be
addressed in the next version - Done - grand
summaries for activity data have been added where applicable.
17)
Creating
New Year. Can be based on previous year only. Currently can save any previous
year into XML and import into a new year. Must be able to base new year on any
other year - Done - it is now possible to create
new inventory year by copying data from any existing inventory year.
18)
Backup
- Manual system implemented - Automatic back-up system will be implemented, if
possible - In progress
19)
Road
Transport - Now follows Tier2. (Detailed aggregation is Tier 2, Tier 1 is at
level of total fuel use…) - Needs to be able to enter data at tier 1 level
(aggregated level) as well as Tier 2 more detailed sub-categories - Specify how to implement?
20)
Reporting
format for Non-Annex countries -
Non-Annex I Table 1 report has been implemented. Table 2 contains gases not
relevant to Energy sector, so it will be completed as soon as Industrial
Processes sector worksheets will be implemented.
21)
Worksheet
remarks - New window is available within each worksheet to write any remarks
regarding the whole worksheet, not just the particular row of the worksheet. It
will be then possible to combine worksheet remarks and automatically include
them into documentation box in reporting tables. User will still have
possibility to modify the documentation box text.
